The Report of the Week

One of the things I appreciate most about social media is the way that it gives everyone a platform to make their voice heard.  Every so often I stumble across an “influencer” who grabs my attention, and lately I’ve been working my way through the filmography of John Jurasek, a 21-year old Youtube star best known for his channel “The Report of the Week.”  Jurasek, also known as “ReviewBrah”, stands out from most content creators by paying particularly close attention to his appearance, to the point where he dons a Sunday suit in nearly all of his clips.  And what, pray tell, does this distinguished-looking young gentleman choose to discuss with his audience?

Fast food.

That’s right, the kid does fast food reviews, and he does them well.  When questioned on his choice of cuisine, Jurasek normally responds with a surprisingly simple reply:  “Is every average American going to be eating a steak dinner every night?  No.  Fast food, though, well, there’s usually a McDonald’s every half mile… I want to be applicable to the largest number of people.”

I can’t argue with the kid’s logic, and I definitely can’t deny his results.  Jurasek’s work has attracted over a million subscribers on Youtube and plenty of mainstream media coverage, as well a decent income from advertising revenue.  I’ve heard some nutritionists make the claim that fast food is addictive, and while that’s still yet to be seen, one thing’s for sure: watching reviews of fast food definitely is.
